FAMILY HISTORY SECTION
Family History materials will be accepted and kept on file for any Montgomery County resident irrespective of the length of time they resided in the county.
Items accepted for family history files include photocopies of genealogy,
photos, news articles, letters, legal documents or any relevant items that
can be photocopied.
NO ORIGINAL documents or photographs will be kept in the family history
files. These files are accessible to visitors any time the museum is open.
Oral history will also be accepted. Procedures related to this will be developed as material becomes available.
An Access Log will be placed in the front of each Family History folder. Anyone accessing the family history file to add, view or copy information must sign and date the access log each time they enter the file. A museum staff or volunteer should insure that the visitor completes this log. The purpose of this log is to alert subsequent visitors to new materials having been received or relatives visiting their file.
Visitors providing Family History materials to the museum will not be charged for use of the copier and may be instructed how to use the copy machine themselves.
Photocopies of information from the Family History files will also be done at no charge for active museum members. Copies for non-members will made at 25 (twenty-five) cents each.
Alvin Black is now in charge of the family history section. He may be reached by email at alvin.black@hhmmc.org
